Theft
07/24/2017- Several marker flags valued at $60.00 dollars each were stolen from the Glen Ridge Country Club Golf Course located at 797 Broad Street. The theft occurred during the overnight hours.
07/25/2017- A black and gold BMX bicycle was stolen from Glenwood Ave & Lackawanna Plaza. The owner discovered the lock which secured the bicycle, broken and his bicycle missing. The bicycle was stolen between the hours of 12pm and 6pm.
07/25/2017- Devon Anderson age 26 of Montclair NJ was arrested and charged with theft. Mr. Anderson, who is employed as a cashier at Home Depot was charged with taking money from the register on several occasions. Home Depot Loss Prevention reported a total loss of $1,543.25 dollars. Mr. Anderson was arrested at the Home Depot Store and later released on a summons with a pending court date.
07/26/2017-Daouda Camara age 25 of Newark NJ was arrested and charged with Unlawful Use of Credit Cards. Police were dispatched to the Home Depot Store on a possible fraud in progress. The incident was reported by the Asset Protection manager, who stated that an individual inside the store was attempting to make a purchase with a stolen credit card. Officers arrived and located the individual later identified as Mr. Camara, who fled the store and was apprehended after a brief foot chase. Mr. Camara was charged with making store purchases estimated at $3,500.00 dollars with fraudulent credit cards on several different dates. The charges were placed on a summons with Mr. Camara being released with a pending court date.
07/27/2017- The Marshalls Store located at 8 Franklin Street reported the theft of 3 pairs of Nike sneakers. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a red shirt and blue jeans, who entered the store at approximately 1pm and stole the sneakers. The suspect fled on foot. Police are actively investigating the incident.
07/27/2017- Orlando Christmas age 54 of Newark NJ was arrested at 4:50pm and charged with shoplifting. Police were dispatched to the Aldi Supermarket located at 244 Bloomfield Avenue on a shoplifter who fled the store. Responding officers located the suspect identified as Mr. Christmas who is a known shoplifter hiding behind a parked vehicle. Officers located the proceeds described as several packages of coffee valued at $29.00 dollars. Mr. Christmas was transported to police headquarters and held awaiting a bail hearing.
Motor Vehicle Theft
07/24/2017- A 2008 Infiniti G3S was reported stolen from the driveway of a residence on North 15th Street. The vehicle was last seen on 07/23/2017 at 4:00pm and discovered missing the following morning at 5:30am.
07/26/2017- A 2016 Kawasaki motorcycle was reported stolen from Alfred Lane. The owner parked the motorcycle at 8:30pm in front of his apartment building. The bike was discovered missing the following morning at approximately 4:42am.
07/27/2017- A 2004 Ford van described as a box truck was reported stolen from 23 Willet Street. The owner was alerted at 2:35am that the vehicle’s tracker had been disabled. The vehicle contained 2 cooking grills and catering equipment. The vehicle was last seen parked at the same location at approximately 7pm.
CDS
07/24/12017- Jose Capeles age 23 of Elizabeth NJ was arrested at approximately 10:00pm and charged with Possession of CDS. Officer Rueben Rivera, while on patrol observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on Bloomfield Avenue with a broken taillight. A motor vehicle stop led to the discovery of a marijuana cigarette in plain view located on the center console. The driver identified as Mr. Capeles was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was issued a summons and released with a pending court date.
Robbery
07/28/2017- A 16 year old male victim reported he was robbed by two males. The victim was walking home when he was approached by the two suspects in the area of Liberty Street and Spruce Street. The suspects exited from a black vehicle, approached the victim asking to see his cell phone. The victim was punched in the face by one of the suspects, knocking him unconscious. The victim reported his phone, wallet and Adidas flip flops were stolen. The victim suffered bruising and abrasions to his arm, hand and face. Police are actively investigating the incident.
Warrant Arrest
07/26/2017- Mark Larsen age 59 of Bloomfield NJ was arrested at 6:03pm for an active warrant issued by Bloomfield. Officers on patrol were dispatched to Ward Street on a male urinating in a parking lot. The male was located and identified as Mark Larsen. Mr. Larsen was issued a Town Ordinance for urinating in public. A record check alerted officers to the active warrant. Mr. Larsen was ROR and issued a new court date.
Burglary
07/27/2017- A burglary was reported occurring at an apartment building located on Myrtle Street. The building maintenance manager discovered the door to a storage room was forced open by damaging the lock. A Dewalt leaf blower and vacuum were reported missing.
DUI
07/30/2017- Virginia Padilla age 52 of Kearny was arrested at 2:27am and charged with DUI. Police observed a vehicle traveling west on Bloomfield Avenue crossing the double yellow lines onto the east bound lane of Bloomfield Avenue. Sgt. Luca Piscitelli observing the violation initiated a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Watsessing Ave and Bloomfield Ave. The driver’s speech was slurred and her eyes were glassy and bloodshot. Sgt. Piscitelli also detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the drivers breath. After conducting several Field Sobriety tests, the driver was believed to be operating her vehicle under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. She was additionally issued a summons for Failure to Maintain Lane.
